TRAFFIC & NEIGHBORHOOD SAFETY

My expertise as Former Traffic Services Police Officer, Canadian Forces War Veteran, and being in Health & Safety Management today, this will give your Bradford council and Ward 6, an edge in implementing the right traffic and speed mitigations the first time, we will not waste money on more data, Hundreds of thousands in consultants fees, we will reduce the ongoing Whack-a-mole redundancies, and start making Real changes to our streets right away. If I am elected to council I will encompass all the factors in a Pro-Active approach by introducing a SAFE STREETS BRADFORD Proposal that will not only revolutionize the safety of our streets but it will also change behaviors so that Bradford Streets Will Be Safe Again. Safe for our Families, Safe for our Children to play on, Safe for our businesses, and safe for the future of our Community. Our streets are the gateways to every bit of success we want to achieve here in Bradford and Our School Zones need to be a Top Priority.

Speed Bumps

Town Council was given many reports that speed bumps would be a quick adjustment to Stopping and properly mitigating speed, instead years ago Bradford opted to go with Speed Calming mitigations which has since done nothing, instead Speeding has caused more deaths and the rate of instances have increased several hundreds of percent making Bradford Worse off. I am an expert in Safety and would be able to implement Safe Street Mitigations the first time instead of taking Years to make real changes to make our streets safe again. It's only after years of wrongful decisions that the sitting council has started to use speed bumps and the results are instantaneous. I have a full Bradford Safe Streets Plan that will allow safe streets all year long.

Stop Signs

Implementing real speed mitigations like a stop sign, I would ensure these signs get placed to deter and stop speeding on streets now to allow more measures for the Police to enforce the law, change behaviour and make our streets safer.

Raised Crosswalks

Pedestrians safety has to be brought more to the forefront on our streets; we need to make residential and school zones the safest we can. Implementing Raised crosswalks at vital places in ward 6 and Bradford will signal that places like these matter, SLOW DOWN. I will use my expert experience in Safety to help navigate a Town wide approach to solving these issues and making our streets safer.

Bike & Scooter Lanes

This is a Proactive approach to tell Bradford that electric scooters & e-Bikes will soon be taking over our streets, in our residential and commercial areas. We need to implement a Bike lane plan to make it safe for all participants on our roads. One loss of life is unacceptable. I will use my expertise by launching my proposal for a Safe Streets Braford Campaign Proposal to get ahead of what the future holds for us here in Bradford & our streets.

Speed Cameras

Even as I started campaigning early August, at first there was no plan to start this until 2023, I am happy the decision was made to start this action this October. Just in time for an election!! The measure is welcomed as our streets need to get safer. It only took 4-8 years and, if you had an expert in Safety like myself - this action would have been mitigated sooner. This still doesn't stop or help the "whack-a-mole" approach still being used in the safety implementation of our streets. I would propose and ensure a full town wide plan is prepared, planned and managed, which will allow Bradford as a whole town to be safer.

RoundAbouts

Ensure Shrubbery and visual contact is 100% visible to all parties. Will also include raised crosswalks at high risk roundabouts for safety for pedestrians and vehicles. Raising crosswalks will allow slower traffic and make it safe for all parties accessing this road infrastructure. YES, Roundabouts allow for better flow of traffic, but we have nothing in place to allow them to be safe for all parties using them. This is a safe & an efficient solution for everyone.
